Nico returns on court in Miami

Nico returns on court in Miami

Nico will be back on court in Miami! He’s eighteenth seeded there, and has a bye for the first round. In the second round he plays the winner of Querrey/Stakhovsky. This is the most recent image I could find, when Ferrer defeated Nico back in february in Buenos Aires.
Finally we can enjoy his game again, vamos Nico, con todo! :))

Nico starts 2014 with the tournament of Sydney

Ha finally there is something to write again, as the first weeks of 2014 are slowly filled. Nico is confirmed for the tournament of Sydney, starting january 6th 2014. So that means Sydney and Australian Open to start the new year.
Nico is also confirmed to play Houston, the only clay tournament in the United States. Maybe that’s a good decision: last year Nico made it to the final, but lost to Isner. The year b before, Isner made it to the final, but lost to Mónaco.  So Nico lost the final this year, so why not win it next year?😉

This week appeared some photos too on twitter and facebook, showing Nico, along with David Ferrer, Pablo Carreño and Roberto Carballés of the Peugeot tennisteam. Apparently they’re ambassadors of this brand of cars. Here’s some of the pictures, more to be found on their facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.622412804463660.1073741867.115082821863330&type=1&comment_id=6106828&notif_t=comment_mention

Nico participates in charity event in Yecla this saturday

I’m terribly sorry for being so late with updating on this blog, as Nico’s last tournament finished last week. He played in Paris Bercy, where he defended a third round spot from last year. In this years first round, Nico had a bye, so he started against Ivan Dodig in the second round. He played a very strong match, defeating the croatian with 6-4 6-3. In the third round was Stan Wawrinka on the other side of the net. Like last year, third round was the last round for Nico this year too.  Right now, he’s on number 13 of the world, not bad to end the year with.

I’ll make a year review later this month, for now I tried to find some information about the charity event of saturday, in which Nico will participate. The event will be organised to collect funds for the rehabilitation of an 18 year old yeclanboy, who has neuronale damage after collapsing last year during a football match. The event will be a tennis clinic with kids, who can play with Nico and María José and an exhibitionmatch of Nicolás. Tickets are sold for 7 euro’s, and the money will all go to the family of the boy. There will also be a lottery with prices, including a Real Madrid shirt signed by the team, and a Barcelona shirt, signed by that team. The whole event starts at 5 pm, so hopefully we get to see some pictures of it!

Nico plays Fabio Fognini at 8 pm tonight

It’s friday and that usually means quarterfinal day in  tennistournament, so in Valencia too. Nico plays tonight at 8 pm against italian Fabio Fognini for a place in the semifnals. Nico has played Fabio 5 times before, the last time was this year in the Hamburg tournament. Nico lost this match on clay in the semifinal. Right now we’re later in the year, Nico has a great couple of weeks and seems to play great too (plus the only meeting on hardcourt, in 2009 Australian Open, was won by Nico too). Interesting match for sure, and we can see it on stream as the Valencia tournament is streamed too.

Vamoa Nico!
